The Bordeaux ring road keeps getting blocked. After the tractors, these are the taxis who will invade it on Monday January 29, 2024 for a snail operation. They wish to renegotiate the medical transport agreement with the Primary Health Insurance Fund (CPAM).
The drivers will therefore follow the call of the National Taxi Union and will demonstrate their dissatisfaction on the roads of Gironde on the 29th. From 6:30 a.m., traffic on the ring road will therefore be blocked or strongly slow downfollowed by the boulevards. Between 800 and 1000 taxis coming from 12 departments are expected.
Taxi demands
Gironde taxi drivers are joining a national protest movement instigated following the 2024 medical transport convention. According to them, they are imposing unfair pricing when transporting patients.
“Why should the taxi take responsibility for the costs of the care that the sick must undergo? », they question in a press release before ensuring that the CPAMs exercise “unjustified pressure” on their profession, imposing “unfair and unacceptable” prices.
Fatima Faida, president of the Gironde autonomous taxi union (SAAT), assures: “This agreement is not regulatory so what we hope for is first of all a compliant agreement! »
Taxis are expected to sign the document by February 1, given that the previous agreement expires on January 31.
The blockade of January 29
Faced with this deadline, taxi drivers chose January 29 to express their anger. They will arrive by motorway to meet at 6:30 a.m. in Bordeaux Lac at the Matmut Atlantique stadium.
