The price of Sufuda continues to soar, more than tripling in the past three months
Many netizens reported on the public platform that the price of Sufuda has increased, and some netizens posted three price trend charts of Sufuda in different periods. The price of each box of Sufuda has continued to rise from more than 200 yuan in November last year to 400 yuan and 600 yuan.
The Paper reported that on January 22, searches on major mainland e-commerce platforms showed that the prices of Sufuda (mabaloxavir tablets) with a specification of 20mg*2 tablets/box ranged from 398 yuan to 650 yuan.
Physical pharmacies in Guangzhou and Shanghai were out of stock
On January 23, staff at many physical pharmacies in Guangzhou stated that there is currently no stock of mabaloxavir.
A staff member of a chain pharmacy said: “I sold this medicine some time ago, but it has been out of stock for a long time. It is not available in the company’s warehouse at the moment. It is estimated that it has been out of stock recently.”
In Shanghai, some media visited a number of chain pharmacies, and pharmacists all said that this “Internet celebrity” new drug is temporarily out of stock. It is reported that in response to the flu season, hospitals will stock up on different types of flu drugs. Oseltamivir is a classic drug for treating influenza A and B, and the stock is sufficient. Therefore, patients do not need to worry even if mabaloxavir is not available.
Only taking it once is a selling point
As a blockbuster innovative drug in the anti-influenza field, Sufuda (mabaloxavir) has rapidly become popular and popular. Because it only needs to be taken once per course of treatment, it is highly sought after.
In April 2021, Sufuda was approved in the Mainland for the treatment of patients 12 years old and above with simple influenza A and B, including previously healthy patients and patients at high risk of influenza complications. It was approved for only 8 patients that year. Months later, Sufuda was included in the national medical insurance directory.

It is worth noting that patients with lactose intolerance should use mabaloxavir with caution and oseltamivir is preferred.
While taking mabaloxavir, avoid taking dairy products and calcium products at the same time. Children may drink more dairy products and calcium-fortified drinks. They should avoid taking mabaloxavir at the same time, and they should be separated by at least two to three hours.
