(Maria Strada) The former world no.1 Medvedev – who in the semi-final was able to come back from two sets with two tiebreaks against Sacha Zverev – is one of the most “unlucky” players in recent history in the Slams: born in Moscow l On February 11, 1997, he is in his sixth final and the previous five came against the “Big Three” players. Two years ago in Melbourne he was a short distance from beating Rafael Nadal 3-0, undergoing a sensational comeback, and he almost managed to overturn the same Majorcan in 2019 in New York. His only victory in major tournaments arrived in the Big Apple in 2021, against Novak Djokovic, who was trying to complete the Grand Slam.

(Gaia Piccardi) Jannik Sinner will mark it on the calendar of existence with the little red circle (cit. Rino Tommasi, who would have had great fun telling the story of the flight of the red baron in the tennis sky), this Sunday 28 January 2024. Jannik arrives at the most important event (for now) of his sporting life from a perfect path, during which he and his team really left nothing to chance: 14h22′ the time spent on the pitch (almost double Medvedev, 20h33 ‘, forced to resume matches with Ruusuvuori, Hurkacz and Zverev by the skin of his teeth), just 59 games lost in six matches, only two breaks conceded (with Van de Zandschulp and Khachanov, zero with Djokovic!) and one set to the best, the Serbian reduced to an appearance in the semi-finals.
