A film by Nina Heins
WDR ・45 Min.
The vastness of the desert, rough coasts, colorful markets, plus numerous world cultural heritage sites – there is certainly no shortage of sights in Morocco. The cultural influences of Arabs, Berbers and Europeans can be found everywhere in everyday Moroccan life and convey a feeling of the Arabian Nights at every turn. The film author Nina Heins and her cameraman Jonas Weinhold start their tour in Marrakech at the famous Djemaa el Fna square. Just a few steps away is the old town of Marrakech, the Medina. Haggling is part of the ritual for traders in the souks, and tourists should also master it so as not to be seen as a “killer of the fun”. We continue to Aït-Ben-Haddou. The winding fortress town built of clay walls at the foot of the High Atlas has served as a backdrop for numerous Hollywood films. A few hours’ drive further east, the two of them experience the Erg Chebbi desert landscape on camelback. On the opposite side of the country, after the sandy dune fields, we go to the sea again. In Essaouira, you have the opportunity to prepare a classic tagine yourself during a cooking class with Berber women.
