Lauri Laats: The Center Party supports the motion of no confidence in Kaja Kallas

The government led by Kaja Kallas has not been able to solve any crisis and has caused more of them, and considering the state of Estonia, the Center Party supports the motion of no confidence in the Prime Minister, said Lauri Laats, Vice Chairman of the Center Party.

According to the MP, the ongoing teachers’ strike is the result of the government’s false policy. “When the Reform Party came to power, they started introducing a tax increase, which was not discussed before the elections. In addition, it was promised to increase the average old-age pension to 1,000 euros, but moving at the current pace, this goal will not be met. The teachers were assured that the salary will rise to 120 percent of the Estonian average, but there are also difficulties in fulfilling this promise,” said Lauri Laats. “The opposition in the Riigikogu must gather their strength on this issue, because the future of the Estonian state is at stake. We also expect support from the deputies who recently joined the Social Democratic Party, who have previously strongly criticized the activities of Kaja Kallas.”

According to Lauri Laats, the education crisis in Estonia is significantly more extensive than the mere allocation of 10 million euros for this year’s salary increase. “The recent review of the National Audit Office clearly shows that the Ministry of Education is drifting beyond its goals in terms of teacher succession, and the lack of adequately trained teachers is worsening the level of general education. Today’s government has not taken the necessary steps to solve these problems,” he stated.

“There are several points of concern that are getting worse. The Reform Party, which made false promises before the elections, has not found a solution to the economic recession that lasted for two years, last year, with the support of votes of confidence, several bills that worsened the livelihoods of the residents were pushed through the parliament, and to top it off, Kaja Kallas was unable to prevent and now also end the teachers’ strike,” Lauri Laats listed, adding that The Estonian country’s reputation was also negatively affected by the head of government’s Eastern transport scandal.
