Elon Musk Confirms Launch of New Tesla Electric Car Platform in 2023

The head of the electric car manufacturer Tesla, Elon Musk, has confirmed that the new electric car platform is expected to be launched next year. This means that the new generation of Tesla cars will also be built on this platform, including a budget class model that will be cheaper than the Model 3.

For the sake of justice, one thing must be said right away – 2025 as a deadline for the new platform is not set in stone and it will be quite difficult to fulfill it. “Right now, our plan is to start production by the end of 2025, which is the second half of the year,” Musk said as he joined Tesla’s conference call for Q4 2023 financial results.

Musk also said that increasing production volumes on a new and “revolutionary” production line will be difficult. “We will need engineers to live on the line. It’s not something you take off the shelf and it just works,” says Musk.

It is planned that the new platform will initially go into production at the Tesla factory in Texas, but it is planned to be used for Tesla’s budget class model for about 25 thousand dollars. Such a car in Tesla’s offer is very necessary to ensure growth in the foreseeable future. Here, once again, it is important to remind that Tesla and Musk are not passionate about meeting deadlines. Two examples are the new Tesla Semi and the Tesla Cybertruck, which are now in production and reaching customers, but all this happened several years later than promised. Musk and his Tesla team still have about a year and a half when they will be asked – where is the new car?
