Katsuhiro Harada gives his valuable advice to all new fighters who will enter the Tekken 8 arena, available from January 26.
If you’ve never gotten your hands on Tekken, you might want to give it a try with the arrival of the 8th opus. Tekken 8 offers a series of videos to catch up on the story of the Mishima family who are tearing each other apart with fists and demonic superpowers.
There is also the Arcade Quest mode to immerse yourself in the tutorials. But who better to advise you than Katsuhiro Harada himself. The creator of the franchise tells Tech&Co his tips for tackling Tekken 8 for the first time.

· Don’t go online directly
“You risk losing, it’s inevitable, and you have to take responsibility for it, because you don’t have a teammate to blame,” explains Harada, who insists on the fact that you will have to learn to “control your frustration”.

· Test the Arcade Quest mode
To learn the basics, this new mode offered in Tekken is ideal. Simply create your avatar and personalize it before launching it into the Arcade room. There, different little games will be offered to you to learn the basic movements and do some fighting. And above all improve your fighting style while unlocking customization elements. You can then take on the Ghost Battle against the AI. The latter will adapt to your way of fighting.

You can use training mode for each level and face a series of characters. But the best thing to do, according to Harada, is to test the different fighters on offer to find the one whose martial art style suits you best. There are 32 at the launch of the game. Because looks aren’t everything.

· Use the Special Style
Tekken 8 offers two styles: Arcade and Special. The first is the classic game mode with more freedom. The second rethinks the way you fight by combining the “Easy Combo” and “Help” functions from the previous game.
Each key will then offer a more powerful blow and a combo specific to the character. Depending on its state (Heat or Rage for example), the action will be different. It’s a mode closer to action games and less to arcade. It can be activated or deactivated as desired.

· Play with a friend who has the same game as you
Whether it’s on your couch or online, it’s nice to have a sidekick to progress with. And if he plays the same way as you, at the same level, it’s even better to refine his knowledge of the game and its possibilities.
