A storm forecast for this Sunday and Monday in New York is torn between rain and snow, according to experts.
“A storm that looked like it might start out as rain before turning to snow now looks like it will bring rain to most of the immediate New York metropolitan area. NYC had two snowfalls last week, after almost two years without any in the city, and then an extreme cold snap hit. Since then temperatures have improved.
The previous record for New York City without significant snowfall had been 400 days, which ended on March 21, 1998. Central Park, considered the benchmark thermometer of NYC, usually has about 24 inches of total snow during a winter. But last year it totaled only 2.3, the lowest amount since records began in 1869.
