Russian President Putin’s Miscalculation: Waiting for Trump’s Return to the White House

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s strategy to wait for Donald Trump to return to the White House is another miscalculation by the Kremlin.

This was stated by the former Secretary General of NATO and ex-Minister of Defense of Great Britain George Robertson, he was quoted by the agency Bloombergreports “European Truth”.

Robertson argues that despite his Russia-friendly rhetoric, Trump’s presidency has actually strengthened American defense and increased contributions to NATO.

“Now, with no real progress (on the battlefield – Ed.) in Russia, Putin seems to have no choice but to wait until the election of Donald Trump, who he hopes will make some kind of dirty deal to end the war. But even this strategy, if you can call it that, is wrong,” Robertson told the House of Lords.

“Republican members of the US Congress were here (in Britain – Ed.) and they were very interested in making clear that this strategy is wrong. During his time in office, contrary to his rhetoric, President Trump sent missiles to Poland, increased NATO funding and significantly strengthened the power of its own armed forces. And so this is starting to look like another miscalculation by the Kremlin,” explained Robertson, who was NATO secretary general from 1999 to 2004.

Recall that Donald Trump, who is seeking re-election to office in 2024, after winning the Republican primaries in Iowa promised resolve the situation “very quickly” with the war in Ukraine.

President Vladimir Zelensky called it “very dangerous” what Trump says about his intentions to “end the war” in Ukraine in 24 hours.
