The documentary Karlos is coming to Czech cinemas. The film by directors Michal Samir and Šimon Šafránek charts the career of the most famous Czech MMA fighter, Karlos “Terminator” Vémola. Director Samir describes that it was not his goal to show a different side of Vémol’s personality than the one we know from the media.
At the same time, he is not afraid to look for parallels between the life of the wrestler and the singer Iveta Bartošová, about whom he recently filmed two series of the television miniseries Iveta. “We don’t have to keep their lives far from each other, they are talented and take place in the tabloid spotlight. Karlos has insight, which Iveta could have lacked,” says Samir in an interview with Deník N.

What are your feelings about the festive premiere?
The premiere went surprisingly well. The documentary was difficult to complete, there was such pressure from all sides… Karlos himself had not seen the film before the premiere, I was afraid that at the end of the screening he would say: “Look, this is a stupid film, this is not me.”
But this scenario did not happen…
