Louvre Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the Swiss watchmaking brand Richard Mille, announced that Nubla Yahya won the third edition of the Richard Mille Art Prize, during a special ceremony held at the museum.
Nabla Yahya was among the eight artists nominated to win the award, as she displayed her work known as “Soft Bank” in the “The Art of Now 2023” exhibition, which opened its doors to the public in November 2023 at the Louvre Abu Dhabi. The winner received a cash prize worth $60,000.
Nubla Yahya, born in Abu Dhabi, is a multidisciplinary artist who seeks to explore histories and events that existed, but were erased or disappeared.
The artist, Nabla Yahya, was chosen to win the award, through a prestigious jury consisting of six members, headed by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, head of the “Unlimited A.M.” platform, one of the leading art collectors, and sponsors of the Pompidou Centre. The British Museum, Sharjah Art Foundation, Dr. Soraya Njeim, Director of the Islamic Arts Department at the Louvre Museum in France, Maya Al-Khalil, independent curator and arts consultant, Claire Lilly, Curator and Director of the Yorkshire Sculpture Garden, and Dr. Guillem Andre, Acting Director of Collections Management. Art, museum curators and scientific research at Louvre Abu Dhabi, and Mohammed Kazem, the famous Emirati artist.
