It’s a real scandal!
Union coach Nenad Bjelica (52) attacked Bayern star Leroy Sané (28) twice in the face during the 0-1 loss in Munich on Wednesday. The Croatian had previously refused to give up the ball that had rolled into his coaching zone. There was a verbal argument with Sané – and the violence.
Referee Frank Willenborg (44) showed Bjelica a red card and sent him to the stands.

Just 18 hours later, the DFB sports court handed down its verdict against Bjelica: a three-game ban and a fine of 25,000 euros.
A scandalous verdict for the scandalous coach!
The association thus issued the mildest sentence that was possible.
And that for a coach who has damaged his role model function to the maximum through an act of violence.

Even worse: After the game, Bjelica refused to apologize to Sané. When asked whether he had to apologize more to his team or Sané, he explained: “Only to my team. Not with Sané. He comes towards me to provoke me. Of course I don’t react the way I should as a coach. There’s nothing to add.”
After the facial attack, Bjelica once again trampled on fair play.
In a similar case, Duisburg coach Norbert Meier was banned from working for three months in 2005 after headbutting Cologne’s Albert Streit. The MSV then fired Meier.
How does the DFB come to the scandal verdict?
According to the rules, an assault for which there is a ban of at least six weeks to six months can be reduced to the minimum of three games – if an act contrary to sportsmanship was previously committed by the opponent, in this case Sané.
The Bayern striker received a yellow card for his behavior. Reason enough for the DFB to reduce the sentence for Bjelica.
BILD says: a scandal! This penalty does not act as a deterrent to coaches who attack players.
