At 11.16 the accused 65-year-old called the police. He said that he had killed his two daughters and his 10-month-old grandson. He also said he was going to take his own life.
The conversation should have initially gone to the East police district, which covers the area from the border with Sweden in the south to Mjøsa in the north. Instead, it was the neighboring district of Innlandet that took the call from the 65-year-old.
Two minutes later, at 11.18am, the East police district was notified of the call. Then the first patrol was sent to the scene.
Upgraded to Plivo
The police in Oslo confirm to Aftenposten that the report first went to Innlandet. They cannot explain why. The home is located just over a kilometer as the crow flies from the county border to Innlandet.
13 minutes after the police were first called, the first police officers arrived at the home. Shortly after, the incident was upgraded to a so-called Plivo incidentPlivo incidentThe abbreviation stands for ongoing life-threatening violence.
Before the police arrived, they asked for help from the fire brigade and the health service. The fire brigade moved out at 11.24am, arrived at the area at 11.35am and arrived at the home at 11.43am.
Two smoke divers helped extinguish the fire inside the home, says communications manager Inger Thommessen from Øvre Romerike fire and rescue.
113 was notified of the incident at 11.19. The first ambulance arrived at the home seven minutes later, at 11.36am.

This met them
Inside the home, the police found two women, aged 30 and 24 respectively, shot dead. The 30-year-old’s 10-month-old daughter was also killed. They also found a dead dog with gunshot wounds. The police suspect that the 65-year-old tried to set fire to the home before taking his own life.
On Thursday, the police received the preliminary autopsy reports after the triple murder.
When asked how long it was between the 65-year-old taking his own life and the police arriving, police inspector Grete Lien Metlid replies:
– When the police arrived at the scene, everyone was dead.
Inside the home, the police have found several weapons. Metlid does not want to say how many, but confirms that the accused is registered with one weapon. If a weapon was purchased before 1 October 1990, it has not been necessary to register it.
The man charged with triple murder is said to have been a hunter for many years. He has also been involved in animal husbandry.
Metlid does not wish to comment on what type of weapon was found inside the home.

Challenging crime scene
Ever since Tuesday, the police’s forensic technicians have been working in and around the home in Nes. There is still a lot of technical work to be done, says Metlid.
– It is a demanding crime scene to deal with. There is a whole house and many killed. So it will take time to work inside the home and on the property.
Both the mother of the two women and the father of the baby have been in for questioning. The same has several others.
– We are trying to see if it can provide any answers as to why this happened. As well as whether there is any form of history that can shed light on what may have triggered this, says Metlid.
