Ebba Busch must have understood that it would be messy to fire Sara Skyttedal. The last time she tried it didn’t work at all, Skyttedal was chosen as the first name on the Christian Democrats’ EU list against the wishes of the party leader.
But shame on it surrenders. Busch finally found a new candidate, Alice Teodorescu Måwe. A day after he joined the party, a press conference was called. Skyttedal was fired in front of an open curtain and in February it is supposed that an extra party council will confirm Busch’s election.
But it’s not really that simple to maneuver Sara Skyttedal out. Now the MEP has given his version of the incident in one extra inserted section of SVT’s “30 minutes”. What she tells is not flattering for the party leader.
Skyttedal says she texted and called Busch for several weeks without an answer when she was poked from the EU list the first time. After being totally ignored by her party leader, she ended up in a conversation with one of SD’s MEPs and through him got in touch with the party. This was followed by a loose conversation with the SD staff in Sweden which did not result in anything in particular.
Skyttedal claims that Busch has known all this for several months. So why was she fired only now?

For two reasons, Skyttedal himself guesses in “30 minutes”. First, Busch needed to find a new candidate. Secondly, she wanted to make sure that Skyttedal and her staff had time to prepare a proper election strategy that Teodorescu can easily take over.
Aj.
There actually is one word for this: coup. Sara Skyttedal was democratically elected by the party members to represent them in the EU elections. She says she has been completely open to the party leadership regarding contacts with the Sweden Democrats.
Despite that, she was now fired, without even having been given a chance to defend and explain herself to those who made the decision. Skyttedal says that Ebba Busch has lied to her and withheld information.
And this is not the first the time. During the interview, Skyttedal calls herself “Lars Adaktusson’s executioner” – that alone makes you miss this quote machine already – and remembers how it happened when she took over the place as KD’s top candidate before the last EU election. Skyttedal wanted to talk to Adaktusson before she took his place, but was told by Busch that it was not necessary and that he was fully on board. It turned out to be a complete hoax.
In “30 minutes” a picture is painted of a party that is controlled with the help of lies, foul play and outmaneuvering.
If that is true, the Christian Democrats’ problem is bigger than Sara Skyttedal.
