ASKØY (VG) A packed Tveit church and two sons said goodbye to Tina Milena Solberg (33) on Thursday. She was another victim of partner murder.

– That we will never see Tina again… It makes no sense, says dad Kurt in his memorial speech.

On Tuesday, his daughter will be buried in Tveit church on Askøy outside Bergen.

Tina was killed in her own apartment while her two children were present. She was found in the boot of a burnt-out station wagon in Øygarden on Sunday 7 January.

The ex-partner and father of the children has been charged with the murder and has pleaded guilty.

– Never again will we be allowed to be good to you, hold you, share in your beautiful smile and your infectious laugh. Get to be close to you, get to share in your goodness that you had such a unique ability to share with others, friends and family, says dad Kurt.

– Dear Tina, where are you? Come back to us.

The coffin is surrounded by wreaths with memorial words from friends and family:

“We are so fond of you and miss you so dearly”

“A final greeting to our dear Tina”

“Miss you, kind mom”

Tina leaves behind two sons. Over 3,000 people have donated almost NOK 800,000 to the children’s education fund at Spleis.

– The boys were everything to her, and she wanted a safe home, says priest Bjarte Nese in the memorial speech.

Tina was described as a smiling girl.

– Tina was easy to communicate with and had a great sense of humour, and an infectious laugh. This is how she gained a close friendship with many. At the same time, she was not the one who necessarily shared her heaviest thoughts.

Victim of partner murder

Partner violence became a theme in the church during the funeral.

The police believe Tina was strangled to death with a cable before she was put in the car which was set on fire, VG has been informed.

A woman who knew Solberg well has previously told VG that the ash boy moved to Øygarden to get away from his ex.

Instead, she was killed by him, like 187 other women in the last 24 years whose partner has been convicted or charged with the murder.

Just a few days before Solberg was found dead in Øygarden, Rahavy Varatharajan (30) was also found shot dead in a car on the night of 2 January. The man she previously dated is charged with the murder. Both Solberg and Varatharajan had violence alarms because of their exes.

Solberg had reported the ex several times, including for threats and coercion with a knife. He was also banned from visiting until 6 September last year.

He regrets what he has donehis defender has previously said.

Tina’s family has previously expressed their support for anyone who is or has been in the same situation as her.

– We hope that the senseless things that have happened can help direct a stronger focus on protecting victims of violence. There must be a change in society, child protection and the judiciary.
