Through a statement, Warner Bros. Discovery announced the name change of its streaming platform, which will go from being called HBO Max to just “Max” on February 27.
Although this change had already been made last year in the United States during the month of May, it will only be implemented in the Latin American and Caribbean area, and this change includes the implementation of new titles to the platform.
“Max will bring to Latin America a new experience of streaming which in its first months after its launch will have an incomparable catalog with more than 37,000 hours of content, more than double the amount currently found on HBO Max,” the statement states.
Franchises such as DC Comics, Harry Potter, and Game of Thrones will remain within the content, however titles related to Discovery, Sony, NBC and live events including “Awards Season”, sports tournaments and local original productions will be added.

Among the news that includes the name change and the inclusion of Discovery content, the different plans that the platform will offer starting in February were also announced, which will have the option of monthly or annual payment.
The announced plans are basic with ads, standard and platinum with prices ranging from 149 to 199 Mexican pesos.
Also in the statement, Warner Bros. clarified that people who currently have a subscription to HBO Max, either directly or through a third party, will have the “new” platform from the first day of launch, as well as the same price. and functionalities of the plan that they have already purchased.
In the coming weeks, the company that owns HBO Max will release additional details about future changes within the platform.
