Parts store Handyman has been declared bankrupt | Economy

Handyman, a retail chain that sells parts for household appliances, was declared bankrupt this week. This includes 38 of the 48 stores throughout the Netherlands.

This is evident from a ruling by the bankruptcy court in Breda. The exact cause of the bankruptcy is still unclear.

Handyman, a retail chain that started in 1974, sells vacuum cleaner bags, drain hoses and cables, as well as parts for washing machines, refrigerators and vacuum cleaners.

The 38 stores will remain open for the time being to see whether a restart is possible. The other branches fall under franchisees and are therefore not yet affected by the bankruptcy.

More shopping street chains went bankrupt in the past year. In December 2023, the Perry Sport, Aktiesport and Sprinter stores were hit by bankruptcy. Previously, BCC, Big Bazar, Score and Scotch & Soda also went bankrupt.
