FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Indonesian National Team Coach Shin Tae Yong does not want to comment much regarding the Indonesian national team’s chances of qualifying for the last 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup.
It is known that the Indonesian National Team’s hopes have not completely disappeared after the painful defeat to Japan with a score of 3-1 in the last match of Group D.
The Indonesian national team still has to wait for the other two group matches tomorrow, Thursday (25/1/2024), between Oman vs Kyrgyzstan and Jordan vs Bahrain.
Shin Tae Yong said anything could happen, but he was reluctant to discuss these possibilities.
“Of course anything can happen. I can’t say anything about tomorrow so, yeah, no comment,” said Shin Tae-yong at the press conference after the match.
He also chose to rest his players tomorrow while waiting for the results of the matches in Group E and Group F.
“Tomorrow we will rest and will see the results of the other group matches. Whether we pass or not is normal recovery, so tomorrow we will rest,” he continued.
There are two schemes that can qualify Indonesia to the round of 16 through the best third place.
In the first scheme, Jordan must succeed in beating Bahrain with a score of 2-0, or win by a difference of more than two goals. This option is actually quite difficult, because Jordan only needs a draw to qualify for the round of 16. It could be that they are only targeting a draw against Bahrain.
Then, in the second scheme, in Group F Oman must draw against Kyrgyzstan with any score. Currently, Oman has only collected 1 additional point and one more point will not be able to shift the Indonesian national team into the top four third places.
