The Davos Conference is a platform where economic leaders from around the world gather, in an effort to find solutions to the problems facing the countries and peoples of the world. It has been organized by the World Economic Forum since 1971 to this day as the largest international conferences in terms of the level of representation from countries, economic institutions and individuals. The World Economic Forum conference was held this year in the Swiss resort of Davos, and more than 60 heads of state and about 2,800 political and economic leaders, global entrepreneurs, public figures and prominent social activists on the global scene participated. In this session, the Forum focused on four main issues: the conflict in Gaza, the Ukrainian-Russian war, and the complex climate change crisis with its terrible implications for food security, health security, and human security in general. The Forum also addressed the chaos resulting from the misuse of artificial intelligence, a file that has received attention and emphasis. They were prominent among all participants in the forum, as it was discussed under the title “Artificial Intelligence is a Driving Force for the Economy and Society,” and about 30 sessions of discussions were held about it over the course of five days, a clear indication that artificial intelligence has become the main concern that occupies the forefront of the world’s concerns. The United Arab Emirates, in fulfillment of its economic and global responsibilities, participated in the activities of the World Economic Forum for the year 2024, through the Abu Dhabi Peace Forum, whose Secretary General, Sheikh Mahfouz Bey, reviewed the vision of the United Arab Emirates to spread a culture of peace and tolerance in the world, and its pioneering role in development. sustainable development, as an embodiment of his involvement in the Executive Council of the Council of 100 Initiative, an initiative launched by the World Economic Forum, which aims to enhance dialogue and approach human commons between the Islamic world and the West. The Emirati delegation at the Abu Dhabi Forum called for “a civilized embrace that guarantees security, stability, and developmental and economic prosperity for all.” It also highlighted the Forum’s role in establishing the first Artificial Intelligence and Civil Society Committee, which was launched in London in December 2023, to examine the role of ethics and governance in artificial intelligence. Which was included in the Global Risks Report 2024 issued before the forum and emphasized the increasing potential threats resulting from the use of artificial intelligence technologies for malicious purposes and cybercrimes such as tampering with election results, the military use of artificial intelligence technologies, the spread of false information and alternative facts, and reducing complications and cyber intrusions in the future.
