Ministry of Public Health Urges Measles Vaccination for All Ages

He Ministry of Public Health communicates that the only prevention measure for measles is vaccination.

Therefore, it is important that the population has applied the triple viral vaccine – included in the national calendar – which protects against this infection, rubella and mumps.

Who should get the measles vaccine:

· One-year-old boys and girls: First dose of the triple viral vaccine

· Boys and girls 5 years old: Second dose of the triple viral vaccine.

· People over 5 years of age, adolescents, adults and health personnel: they must have at least 2 doses of the double or triple viral vaccine.

People born before 1965 do not need to be vaccinated because they were exposed to the virus and are considered immune.

The target audience will be able to attend all public vaccination centers in the province of Salta, without a medical order, to be able to receive the immunizer for free.

Information for traveling abroad

In addition to having the vaccines contemplated in the national calendar up to date, it is recommended to:

· Boys and girls from 6 to 11 months: Receive one dose of double viral or triple viral vaccine (zero dose)

· Pregnant women: It is suggested to travel only if you have at least 2 doses of the double or triple viral vaccine (having given the doses before pregnancy) or confirm the presence of IgG antibodies.

“Vaccination is an act of solidarity. It protects you and protects others,” said the head of the Immunization program, Adriana Jure.

Argentina is a measles-free country. To prevent the reintroduction of the virus, it is necessary that all people complete their vaccination schedule.

Which people cannot be vaccinated?

Because it is a live attenuated virus vaccine, immunocompromised people, pregnant women, cancer patients, solid organ transplants or hematopoietic precursors, and children under 6 months cannot be immunized.

Vaccination not only confers individual protection, but also generates collective immunity.
