The Cat’s Song” by Katrina Gupalo Takes Europe and New Zealand by Storm, Enters Latvian Eurovision Contest “Supernova

Katrina Gupalo’s song about a cat or “The Cat’s Song” has been released, which has already managed to appeal to listeners in Europe and even faraway New Zealand. The cat song also entered the Latvian Eurovision selection contest “Supernova”.

“The Cat’s Song”, sung in the mischievous feline voice of Katrina Gupalo and set in the mood of a musical, tells about the daily life of a cute, fluffy, playful and independent cat, living together with his beloved owner.

Its first demo recording was made one night in a creative camp in Latgale in a free and artistic atmosphere, where the song’s producer Edgars Vilcāns and co-authors – Katrīna Gupalo, Evija Smagare and Armands Varslavāns participated. The song was recorded in the “Varslaff ‘n’ Edwolf” studio, and a lyric video was created for it, which was written by Eric Saxon.

“This summer, a kitten named Dakota appeared in my life for the first time. It brought new, bright and very sweet colors to everyday life that I really wanted to share with my listeners. We live in a rather scary time, where very tragic and painful events happen every day, and none of us have a sense of security about the future. That’s why I wanted to give people in Latvia, Europe and the whole world something warm, sweet, light and carefree – just like cat therapy,” says Katrīna Gupalo, the author of the song’s idea. “I am so thrilled that my goal has come true and the song about the cat makes almost everyone who listens to it smile, sing and dance along!”

The song about a cat has created a wide resonance abroad since its publication, and Katrina is in a hurry to tell about this resonance, of course, thus trying to get additional pluses, as the semi-final of “Supenova” is approaching on February 3rd (it is not a pity to give her these pluses as well). “The song is iconic!” says one Jude Kennedy from Great Britain. “That’s why I love Eurovision, that anything and everything is possible! This song is simply pleasant to listen to, it is fun and memorable,” says Ole Christian from Denmark. “This song is clever, very well produced, just perfect!” Jan Bor from the Czech Republic shares his feelings. “I love the lyrics! Someone has had a lot of fun in the recording studio – so many different genres combined! The whole song is like a flirt, it’s seductive, playful and dreamy all at the same time. It’s unpredictable, you never know what’s going to happen next. I want to listen to it over and over to enjoy all the ingredients of the song. I would be very happy if the song won in “Supernova”, it could also sound great in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest and enter the Top 10″, summarize Maria and Hanna from Norway excitedly. Yes, why not?! There are a lot of cat lovers, maybe they will be able to compete even with Don’s fan groups…
