You are now following the news: Danger is near…NASA monitors the approach of 5 asteroids to Earth this week and now with the details

Baghdad – Yassin Safwan – The Asteroid Watch dashboard tracks asteroids and comets that will come relatively close to Earth, displaying the date of closest approach, the object’s approximate diameter, relative size, and distance from Earth for each encounter.

The painting focuses on the next five approaches to Earth, all within 4.6 million miles (7.5 million kilometers or 19.5 times the distance to the Moon).

NASA’s information panel notes that “an object larger than 150 meters in size that can approach Earth within this distance is called a potentially hazardous object.”

The painting shows the passage of the asteroid 2024 AL6 on Wednesday, January 24, near Earth, which was first observed on January 10, 2024, and belongs to the Apollo group.

The asteroid makes one revolution around the sun in 1,424 Earth days, or 3.9 Earth years.

The size of the asteroid is estimated at about 25 meters, and it is expected to approach our planet from a distance of about 2.09 million km and at a speed of 27 kilometers per second.

Then, on Thursday, January 25, a bus-sized asteroid, called 2017 BG92, will approach within 4.5 million km.

This asteroid also belongs to the Apollo asteroids category, and completes one revolution around the sun in 512 Earth days, or 1.4 Earth years, and its size is estimated at about 6 metres.

On Friday, January 26, a car-sized asteroid, called 2011 CQ1, is expected to pass at a distance of 4.3 million km.

On Saturday, January 27, asteroid 2024 BJ will safely approach Earth from a distance of 354,000 km from Earth, or about 92% of the average lunar distance.

On Sunday, January 28, our planet will meet the planet 2024 BF1, whose size is estimated at 79 meters, and which will pass near Earth at a distance of 4 million km.

It is worth noting that none of the listed asteroids are currently on a collision course with Earth.
