The Azerbaijani delegation officially announced that it is ceasing cooperation with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
A European Pravda correspondent reports this from Strasbourg.
Before the start of the PACE meeting, at which the assembly was supposed to consider a decision on the powers of Azerbaijani deputies, representatives of the Azerbaijani delegation made a statement to the press that they were no longer interested in working in PACE in the current conditions.
“The Azerbaijani delegation decides to cease interaction with the assembly and work in it until further communications,” said the head of the Azerbaijani delegation, Samad Seyidov.
In response to a question from EuroPravda about whether Azerbaijan remains part of the Council of Europe, Seyidov refrained from making predictions, although he did not rule out any option: “This (the possibility of Azerbaijan’s final exit. – Ed.) is not our responsibility, but we see that it is impossible for us, for the delegation, to be here because of the unacceptable and intolerable approach to my country.”
