Three children and a man were found unconscious in a boat with 56 other people, which, according to information from the Cyprus News Agency (CYPE), sailed from Lebanon last Thursday, January 18, carrying migrants.

The KSED activated the National Search and Rescue Plan “Nearchos” by immediately mobilizing a Coast Guard vessel, which picked up the migrants in order to transport them safely to the Ayia Napa Marina.
“After transporting the people, it was found that three children and a man were in an unconscious state, while three other people had fractures in their lower limbs. The crew of the Coast Guard vessel provided first aid.”
Also “a vessel of the Port and Maritime Police, a helicopter of the MAEP Police Headquarters and a helicopter of the 460 MED of the National Guard were mobilized, which transported the patients whose health was in critical condition and the injured to the hospitals of Famagusta and Nicosia with the escort of specialized nurses of the MEDEVAC Teams of the OKYpY Ambulance Service”.
According to the KSED announcement “the rest of the people were received by the competent services of the Republic of Cyprus and received the necessary treatment, since according to the first information the boat sailed from Lebanon last Thursday, January 18”.
