He was appointed following a transparent selection process during which several tied candidates were able to defend their candidacy before a jury chaired by the Minister of the Economy Mays Mouissi.
Hugues Modeste Ondjangou is the new Director General of Customs and Indirect Duties (DGDDI) in Gabon. Former head of the central customs office at Owendo port, he also served as deputy regional director in Libreville and more recently as director of surveillance services.
He replaces Landry Mbondo as customs director. Appointed Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of operations within the Gabonese armed forces.
Note that this is for the first time that a customs director has been appointed during a transparent selection before a jury in Gabon.
