– I didn’t understand the berry, says Dag Bjørn Jensen.
The 73-year-old lives in an apartment building in the center of Arendal. On Wednesday morning, he heard a noise from his terrace.
– I heard life. It turned out that it was a deer that had crawled onto the terrace and was banging on the windows, says Jensen.
– Stunned a bit
The police stated that they received a call about the incident at 09.55.
– A fellow who lives in the center of Arendal called. He had discovered a deer on his terrace. It’s not that unusual. But when we heard that the man lived on the fourth floor, we were a little taken aback, says Knut Odde, operations manager at the Agder police district, to Fædrelandsvennen.

Dag Bjørn Jensen was anxious on Wednesday morning to disturb the deer, fearing that it would fall down.
– I don’t dare go out on the veranda, because then I might panic and jump down four floors, he says.
– How did the deer get onto the balcony?
– There is an escape route, a kind of bridge, connected to the row of balconies. It goes up the hill. The deer has probably got up the escape route via a slope.

– What did you think when you saw the deer?
– I didn’t understand the meaning. Who thinks about meeting a deer on the terrace when you live on the fourth floor?
Jensen hopes that the deer manages to find its way back to nature.
When we were in conversation with the 73-year-old, he assumed that the deer was hiding behind a bow on the terrace.
Has blocked off the street
The wildlife committee has been called in on Wednesday morning to assist. The police have also moved to the scene with two patrols.
Knut Odde says at 11 o’clock that Havnegata is blocked off. The reason is that the deer is so stressed that there is a fear that the animal will jump into Havnegata.
– We want to prevent anyone from getting the animal on them, says Odde.
He says that a plan is now being drawn up for how the situation will be handled further.
– Must the deer be shot?
– It is one of the options being discussed, says Odde.
