The municipal government of Tijuana, Baja California, set up shelters for the victims of the rains that have hit the region since this Monday and caused landslides, floods and even the evacuation of schools, whose students were transferred to safe areas.
Older adults, children, motorists and even pets had to be attended to by rescuers, since they were at risk of being swept away by the currents, as in the case of an older adult in the Matadero Canyon or young drivers on flooded roads such as the Fast Track.
According to official reports, a total of 140 affected people, between 90 students and 50 teachers from three schools, were transported by buses to a hostelwhere parents could pick up their children.

Brenda Robles, director of the Colegio Bilingüe del Rey, located on Alamar Avenue, one of the most flooded in Tijuana, reported that her campus had to be helped to evacuate the teaching staff and students.
The Fire Department responded to almost 230 reports, including landslides, floods, rescues in rivers and streams, traffic accidents with trapped people, fires, short circuits, sick people, stuck vehicles and overturns.
Likewise, entire families had to collapse walls that became dams and flooded their homes, where the water level exceeded a meter in height, so they lost all their furniture, and they are still waiting to know if the buildings suffered damage. structural.
This was the case of the private Cedro in the Riberas del Bosque subdivision, where the force of the water broke the gas pipes and the fuel spread throughout the area.
To relieve the water level, the neighbors broke the perimeter fence of the private property with mallets, hammers and shovels so that the rainwater would follow its course.
Meanwhile, the Jardín de Bugambilias subdivision was affected by the formation of a mega sinkhole along the main avenue, the result of fires lit by homeless people, who take shelter in the drains.
The residents stated that in recent weeks there were four fires, two of which got out of control of the homeless who could not put them out, so elements of the Fire Department came to put them out, which caused serious damage to the drainage pipes and It weakened the structure, which is why, with this heavy rain, it ended up opening a sinkhole.
