Another accident involving a truck and a passenger train occurred on the Czech Railways this morning. At 5:43 a.m., a truck collided with the České drah express IC 546 Ostravan from Návsí to Prague near Dolní Lutyná on the corridor line between Karvina and Bohumín. The train driver was killed in the accident, around 15 were injured.
“Traffic on the corridor is stopped,” confirmed the spokesman of the Railway Fire Brigade, Martin Kavka. In addition to rescuers, the Railway Inspectorate is also heading to the scene. Czech Railways said on the X social network that their train driver was killed in the accident, the police later confirmed the death of one person. “There are approximately fifteen injured people on the train. The traction line is damaged. A stoppage of traffic is possible for the whole day,” Kavka added. According to information from the Zdopravy.cz newspaper, the trauma plan has been activated and planned operations are being postponed in nearby hospitals.
An estimated 65 passengers were traveling on the train, HZS MSK will deliver an evacuation bus to the scene. A unit of railway firefighters stabilizes the first car behind the locomotive and helps transport the injured to the helicopter.
The accident occurred on crossing P 6512, which is also equipped with barrier beams. According to Czech Railways, a replacement train is scheduled to leave Bohumín for Prague.
