Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever Cases in Banjar Regency Reach 177, Health Department Urges Community Action

Martapura, KP – There were 177 cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Banjar Regency as of January 20 2024, one of whom died.

This was stated by the Head of Health, Drg Yasna Khairina, Monday (23/01/2024).

Yasna said that dengue cases have increased much more than in January 2023, which was only 51 cases. This is a serious concern for his party so that it can be resolved.

“To date, 177 cases of dengue fever have been found in Banjar Regency, in less than a month, even more than in January 2023,” he said.

To break the chain of dengue fever, Yasna invites all parties, especially village officials and the community, to always maintain the cleanliness of their living environment. There are procedures carried out by the Health Department if a dengue fever case is found in a resident.

“The Health Department is ready to carry out an etymology investigation and look around the house to see if there are any larvae that need to be exterminated or Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) with 3M plus, then fogging,” he said.

According to him, this is mandatory because fogging is not effective, because it only kills adult mosquitoes, not the larvae which will grow into adult mosquitoes a few days later.

“We also urge residents to clean around their homes. “Such as cleaning larvae breeding places in bathtubs, bird drinking places and places that collect rainwater, for example used tires,” he advised. (Wan/K-3)
