Neppe-Aus? That’s what Reschke says
Marco Neppe will probably leave FC Bayern. The predecessor of the technical director, Michel Reschke, comments on the situation in an interview – as well as the transfer rumors surrounding Joshua Kimmich.
Germany was still on its way to winning the 2014 World Cup when Michael Reschke started his job as technical director at Säbener Straße. The now 66-year-old had a chief scout in tow who was hired at FC Bayern at the same time: Marco Neppe.

In the wake of various media reports that revealed an imminent separation between Neppe, who has now become technical director, and the German record champion, his ex-sponsor Reschke spoke in a Sky interview about his heir’s impending departure.
“I think it’s a bit of a shame. I also think that some things in the transfer period could perhaps have been done more optimally – perhaps integrating Marco Neppe a little more into the decision-making processes,” said the ex-official, who now works at the consulting agency “ICM Stellar”.
Michael Reschke was technical director at FC Bayern for years
Especially with regard to the newly filled positions on the Munich board – Neppe was a close confidant of the fired Hasan Salihamdzic – Reschke can still understand the process: “Especially because Max Eberl is now joining and Christoph Freund and Eberl actually have their own If you want to have a fresh start, that’s a development that can happen in professional football.”

Ultimately, however, he would leave responsibility to his former employer: “These are things that Bayern Munich has to decide internally.”
Kimmich to PSG? Reschke takes a stand
Rumors that were not intended for the public were also spread about Sechser Joshua Kimmich. The former captain of the German national team had repeatedly been linked to Paris Saint-Germain in the past.
The veracity of the speculation remains unclear, but Reschke took a clear stance: “I am quite sure that Paris was not an issue for him. That Paris was interested, yes. They’re not the only big club interested in Joshua, but I can’t imagine they’ve even remotely considered a move.”
Reschke cited the family connection to Upper Bavaria as a possible reason: “He has now become a father again – and Joshua’s emotional connection to Bayern Munich is very close. “It’s a matter of the heart.”

However, he doesn’t want to rule out the possibility that Kimmich will decide on another club at some point and not end his career at Bayern: “Bastian Schweinsteiger did that later, David Alaba did that, Robert Lewandowski did that now – at some point is the point where you might want to do something different again after ten years at Bayern Munich. I think that’s completely legitimate.”
There are definitely enough candidates: “We hear that Barcelona might be interested. And in the Premier League – I can assure you – without giving away too much background information, there is definitely interest in Joshua. And not at the clubs from 6th place down, but up in the region,” said Reschke.
However, only Bayern’s management knows how serious the issue really is at the moment. Marco Neppe will probably no longer be a member soon.
