Major indices on Wall Street opened mixed on Tuesday, with investors evaluating corporate earnings and anticipating the release of economic data.
Investors are awaiting reading the Purchasing Managers’ Index data in the United States scheduled to be published on Wednesday, as well as the fourth-quarter gross domestic product estimates scheduled to be released on Thursday, in addition to the data on personal consumption expenditures (the Fed’s preferred inflation indicator) expected on Friday.
The US Central Bank is scheduled to hold its next meeting on January 30 and 31.
US Central Bank officials said last week that the bank needs more inflation data before issuing any decision to reduce interest rates.
