In a press release published on its X account, the Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority (DPFZA) highlighted the preparation and availability of Djibouti ports to support actors in the global supply chain.
Focusing on the safety of the route to/from Asia and Djibouti ports, the DPFZA assured users and stakeholders that the sea route is open for trade and free from problems related to the situation at sea Red.
In order to facilitate trade during this difficult period, the DPFZA announced the implementation of concrete measures. These initiatives aim to support port users and the supply chain in the Red Sea. Some of these measures include:
– Berthing guarantee on arrival: The main trade services between Asia and Far East Europe unloading Djibouti OD (Origin Destination) / Transshipment will benefit from a berthing guarantee on arrival.
– Transshipment quota volume: Shipowners seeking to stage a significant volume of their cargoes at sea
Rouge will benefit from a transshipment quota volume accepted by the ports of Djibouti.
-Minimum waiting time
: Feeders with a substantial volume of Djibouti OD (Origin Destination) cargoes (900 TEU and above) as well as the transshipment volume in the Red Sea within the quota agreed with the terminals will benefit from minimum waiting times at the quay.
Furthermore, the DPFZA wanted to inform that the Doraleh Terminal Management Company (SGTD) has invested significantly to increase the real demand capacity of Djibouti ports. Two major projects have been developed for this purpose:
– Commissioning of 4 STS Malacca Max: This equipment, intended for ultra-large container ships capable of transporting up to 23,000 TEU, represents a total investment of 40 million USD.
– Sea land reclamation of 5 hectares: A sea land reclamation project was carried out with a total investment of 30 million USD. All of these projects, financed to the tune of USD 70 million on a 100% equity basis, aim to strengthen Djibouti’s port infrastructure and support global trade.
DPFZA concludes by emphasizing its commitment to global trade and affirming that these initiatives demonstrate the willingness of Djibouti ports to play a central role in the global supply chain, offering reliable and efficient solutions even in difficult circumstances.
