Libreville, Monday January 22, 2024 (Infos Gabon) – The Gabonese authorities are looking for the individuals who looted the residence of Gilberto da Piedade Verissimo last Wednesday in Libreville.
The Gabonese security forces are mobilized to catch the perpetrators of the robbery on January 17 in Libreville of the residence of the president of the Commission of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS). The home of Angolan Gilberto da Piedade Verissimo was raided by five armed individuals who broke in.
As soon as they were seized, the Gabonese authorities, who say they are closely monitoring this case, opened an investigation with the aim of catching up with the attackers and establishing the responsibilities of each party. In a press release made public, the Gabonese Ministry of the Interior and Security, guarantor of public security “wishes to reaffirm that Gabon, aware of its reputation for hospitality and its diplomatic rank in Africa, does not intend withdraw from its international and community commitments regarding the protection of diplomats, diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited on its territory, in full enjoyment of the diplomatic privileges and immunities attached thereto.”
