Russian Opposition Leader Alexei Navalny Placed in Solitary Confinement for ‘Incorrect Introduction’ – Updates on Putin’s Biggest Opponent

Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny is back in solitary confinement. He must stay there for ten days, his spokesperson said on Tuesday. The well-known Kremlin opponent is said to have introduced himself to a prison guard in an “incorrect way”.

Navalny has been in a remote penal colony since last month. It is located above the Arctic Circle in northern Siberia. His life is constantly made miserable there.

According to his spokesman, Navalny is taken to a seclusion cell at the slightest sign. This would be the 26th time. His latest ‘offence’ is that he incorrectly introduced himself to a new prison guard.

The 47-year-old opposition leader is serving a years-long prison sentence for, among other things, fraud. But outside Russia, the cases against Navalny are seen as a way to keep President Vladimir Putin’s biggest opponent behind bars.

Navalny previously said via X that he is woken up every day at 5 a.m. with the Russian national anthem and other pro-Russian songs.
