At the preview and press conference for the movie ‘Picnic’ (directed by Kim Yong-gyun) held at the Lotte Cinema Konkuk University entrance branch in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 23rd, director Kim Yong-gyun and actors Na Moon-hee, Kim Young-ok, and Ryu Seung-soo attended and talked about the work.

The movie ‘Picnic’ is a story about two elderly women, best friends and in-laws, who go on a friendship trip to their hometown of Namhae for the first time in 60 years and encounter memories from when they were 16 years old. It is garnering attention even before its release thanks to the classy performances of Na Moon-hee, Kim Young-ok, and Park Geun-hyung, Korea’s leading veteran actors with a combined 200 years of experience in the entertainment industry. It was invited to the 28th Busan International Film Festival held last year and received rave reviews.

In particular, ‘Picnic’ attracted a lot of attention among fans and the public even before its release as it was known that singer Lim Young-woong was the first to insert his self-composed song ‘Grains of Sand’ into the OST. ‘Grains of Sand’ is a song written and composed by Lim Young-woong himself and was released in June of last year. It is a lyrical ballad song with a message of comfort and healing. Lim Young-woong sympathized with the story and message of ‘Picnic’ and allowed the use of his debut OST, and it was said that he donated the entire OST music usage fee, adding to the warmth.

Kim Young-ok has shown off her sincere fandom for Lim Young-woong while appearing on other entertainment shows and other broadcasts, showing off her appearance as a representative hero in the entertainment industry. Kim Young-ok said, “I was just a fan, and I played the song ‘Grains of Sand’ and it was calm and good. However, I don’t know technical things (related to the movie), and in fact, I was a huge fan of Lim Young-woong, so (from the producers’ perspective) they could have asked me (Mr. Lim Young-woong) to do a favor, but it would have been difficult to do that,” he said. “In fact, the director You mentioned this secretly, but to be honest, if you look at our movie, I think (from Lim Young-woong’s perspective) we did OK under adverse conditions. If that friend holds an event anywhere, he or she receives a huge guarantee, so our request may have been an unreasonable request. He expressed his gratitude to Lim Young-woong, saying, “It’s something I’m very thankful for from a movie perspective.”

He continued, “I am grateful that the film music is being talked about thanks to Lim Young-woong’s participation. I’m a fan of Lim Young-woong, and when the music was added, I exclaimed to myself, ‘This is awesome.’ “I’m a fan, so I can’t help but like that,” he added.

‘Picnic’ will be released on February 7th.
