Pocketpair Studio Employees Receive Death Threats Over Pokemon Copycat Accusations

Over the past few days, Pocketpair studio employees have been receiving serious threatening letters from people who love Pokemon too much.

The public relations manager for Japanese studio Pocketpair, responsible for the new and unexpected hit Palworld, reported that the developers have received death threats over the past few days from various people who call the game a “copycat” of Pokemon.

“I try to actively go through all my personal messages and emails! Honestly. Just excuse me if I skip death threats against employees and completely insane claims.”.

Studio CEO Takuro Mizobe also condemned the threats:

“We are currently receiving defamatory comments towards our artists and seeing tweets that resemble death threats. I have received a variety of opinions regarding Palworld, but all production related to Palworld is controlled by several people, including myself, and I take full responsibility for the project.”.
