AYOJAKARTA.COM – The controversy over 40 million Wolbachia mosquito eggs that will be produced in Indonesia has received a negative response from netizens.
Former Minister of Health (Menkes), Siti Fadilah Supari expressed her disappointment regarding the Wolbachia mosquito on her personal Instagram.
The former Minister of Health hopes that the next president will not allow the production of Wolbachia mosquitoes in Indonesia.
“Oh Allah, how dare you do this to your own people. “Hopefully the new president will not allow this,” he wrote.

It is known that the Ministry of Health is ready to build an egg factory containing Wolbachia.
This is the government’s effort as an innovation in eradicating cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Indonesia.
In this case, the Ministry of Health also confirmed that wolbachia can reduce the number of dengue cases.
According to him, this method has been proven effective through research.

The plan is that there will be five large cities as locations for the mosquito pilot project.
The cities that will be the locations include West Jakarta, Bandung, Bontang, Semarang and Kupang.
It is estimated that it takes around 40 million wolbachia-bearing mosquito eggs per week.
Maxi R Rondonawu, Director General of Disease Prevention and Control at the Indonesian Ministry of Health, said that currently the UGM laboratory has the capacity to produce mosquitoes.
