Tesla and BMW Introduce Humanoid Robots to Revolutionize Manufacturing

At the end of last year, “Tesla” presented the second version of its humanoid robot “Optimus” “Optimus Gen 2”, which has improved balance, body control, ability to move more naturally and faster, move objects. A recent video also shows how a robot can fold a shirt. Tesla initially plans to use these Optimus robots in its factories to perform monotonous, dangerous jobs and later offer them to other companies as well. BMW also wants to follow this example, which plans to use humanoid robots in car production.

BMW has started its first trials with artificial intelligence humanoid robots used in car manufacturing. These robots are provided to the company by the robotics startup “Figure“. They are expected to lend a helping hand in the warehouse, logistics and retail departments.

“Figure” emphasizes that the robots created by it will allow companies to increase productivity, reduce costs and create a safer and more systematic work environment. “Figure” develops humanoid robots that want to combine human dexterity and the most advanced artificial intelligence technology. Initially, they will provide support in areas such as manufacturing, logistics, retail and mostly carry out monotonous, dangerous tasks, which BMW also wants to use them for.

On its website, Figure states that the US will face increasing labor shortages as the population ages. Currently, there are approximately 10 million jobs in the United States that require dangerous or labor-intensive tasks that could be taken over by robots.
