Banyuwangi Polio National Immunization Week (PIN) sees strong community support and high participation from police and Bhayangkari

BANYUWANGI – Polio National Immunization Week (PIN) is not only carried out by the Health Service and Community Health Centers.

In Banyuwangi Regency, the National Police and Bhayangkari are working hard to participate in making this government program a success.

The first round of the Polio Sub PIN activity which was held in the Hoo Tong Bio Temple Hall, Karangrejo Village, Banyuwangi, Saturday (20/1/2024), targeted hundreds of elementary school students.

Uniquely, after hundreds of students who were mostly in the 2nd grade of elementary school were given Polio drops, they were rewarded with balloons and gifts.

Plus, there were two officers who were willing to wear police clown costumes. The aim is to entertain students.

Banyuwangi Police Chief, Police Commissioner Nanang Haryono, said that Polio immunization was carried out simultaneously at 20 points.

Dozens of points include community health centers to police stations. Meanwhile, the number of health workers deployed reached 186 health workers.

“Today’s Polio immunization targets children aged 0-7 years, a total of 1,806 children,” explained Nanang to journalists.

He said that overall the achievement of Polio immunization in Banyuwangi in the first round was very high.

From the target of 174,237 children, now more than 160 thousand children have received Polio immunization.

Meanwhile, the percentage achievement for Polio immunization carried out by the Banyuwangi Regency Government together with stakeholders is around 92 percent.

“We hope that today’s Polio immunization activities can continue to increase. “That’s why we continue to accelerate,” explained Nanang.

Meanwhile, Acting Head of the Banyuwangi Health Service (Dinkes) Amir Hidayat admitted that no Polio cases had yet been detected in Blambangan.

“That’s why the implementation of Polio drops is a preventive measure to prevent the early spread of Polio from entering Banyuwangi Regency,” said Amir.

Amir added that the first round of Polio immunization in Banyuwangi is targeted to be completed today. His party invites all Banyuwangi residents who have children aged 0 to 7 years to be given Polio immunization at the nearest service post.

“Let’s make the best use of the remaining time by taking our children to the community health center, posyandu, to get free Polio immunization drops,” he said. (ed)
