Antoine Delaunay and Mélanie Dahan Jazzy Concert Review: Logron New Year Celebration

Logron. A jazzy new year. Friday evening, after the vows ceremony, Antoine Delaunay, pianist from Chartres, and Mélanie Dahan, singer from the Paris region, gave a very jazzy concert. Antoine Delaunay started with an instrumental inspired by a song written by Serge Gainsbourg. The piece was initially intended for Yves Montand who refused to sing it. And for good reason, she was talking about alcoholism. Then, Mélanie Dahan entered the stage to cover “Les passantes”, a song by Georges Brassens. The duo gave a very personal version. The verses were interspersed with pianistic flights. There were also covers of jazz standards and even Brazilian music. Each time, the singer was able to find the right tone to make this repertoire her own. As for the pianist, he brought another dimension to these pieces that was sometimes difficult to recognize as his interpretation was so personal.

The packed house applauded the two artists.

The evening ended with a buffet prepared by volunteers.
