Implementation of Polio Vaccination at MI Thohir

National Immunization Week or commonly known as PIN is an important activity held every year to improve the level of health in the community through immunization. Immunization itself is a preventive measure by giving vaccines to individuals so that their bodies can build immunity against certain diseases. The immunization target in Pulungdowo Village involves children aged 0-7 years. The main goal is to provide comprehensive protection to children to avoid polio disease by providing the polio vaccine. On several occasions, immunizations held at schools are also aimed at checking the levels of iodized salt in family cooking.

The implementation of National Immunization Week in Pulungdowo Village is designed with a concept that changes between schools. Each school has the responsibility to prepare its students, for example maintaining health before administering the polio vaccine and asking about their recent medical history because for those who suffer from serious illnesses such as recurrent vomiting or diarrhea it is not recommended to administer the polio vaccine because the polio vaccine contains a weakened virus so it will forms memory in the child’s immune cells. Therefore, if a child is sick, his immune system is weak and cannot form memory in the child’s immune cells properly so that polio vaccination can be postponed until the child is completely cured.

This immunization process is managed by the Pulungdowo Community Health Center’s skilled and trained medical team. Every child receives child-friendly immunization services, minimizing fear and anxiety. With a comprehensive and interactive approach, immunization activities are not just injections, but also educational moments that involve all parties. Great hope lies in the positive impact that can be generated from National Immunization Week in Pulungdowo Village. With a high level of participation and increased public awareness, it is hoped that these village children can grow and develop without being disturbed by diseases that can be prevented through immunization. Optimal children’s health will make a major contribution to the formation of a strong, intelligent and highly competitive generation in the future. With the continuation of the dynamic and participatory National Immunization Week, Pulungdowo Village has become an inspiring example for other regions in maintaining children’s health as a smart investment towards a better future.
