Instagram Introduces New Feature to Reduce Late Night App Usage for Young Users

Social media application Instagram announced that it has introduced a new feature to reduce the time young users spend on the application late at night.

Instagram has announced its latest “awareness feature” aimed at teens. The feature will suggest that when a user under a certain age scrolls through Reels or direct messages for more than 10 minutes, they should close the app and go to bed.

Instagram asks users, “Isn’t it time for a break?” After the notification, it will send a message like “It’s getting late, you should consider closing Instagram.” This notification will be shown automatically after 22:00 in the evening.

The feature will be on by default. Young users will not be given an option to turn off the feature or not see these warning messages.

Instagram has not yet announced whether the feature will be automatically enabled for all teens or just those under 18.
