The parents of a German influencer shot dead by the Amsterdam police in 2020 have filed a report against the officers involved in his death. They say against that AT5.

Sammy Baker (23) was on holiday in Amsterdam and was found by officers in a confused state after eating space cake, among other things. He was shot dead when he brandished a knife during a struggle with police.

The officers were not prosecuted because, according to the Public Prosecution Service, an investigation by the National Criminal Investigation Department showed that the officers acted in self-defense.

‘No danger’

According to the parents’ lawyer, other investigations show that the statements made by the officers involved are incorrect. This way, the influencer would not have posed a danger to the officers. One of those investigations was carried out by the British firm Forensic Architecture, on behalf of the family.

The relatives therefore want the Public Prosecution Service to look at the case again. According to them, a public prosecutor’s office other than that of Amsterdam should handle the case. The Public Prosecution Service has confirmed to AT5 that it has received the report, but is not making any further statements about the case.
