Farmen Kjendis Salaries: How Much do the Celebrities Get Paid for TV 2 Appearance?

In recent weeks, the celebrity version of the popular TV 2 program has buzzed on the screen, and since “Farmen kendis” is often a star-studded group of participants, it is not unusual for them to get a good chunk of money to be on TV.

In December, Erik Anders Sæter (27) could reveal that he earned NOK 250,000 for being part of “Farmen kjendis”. According to Sæter, the celebrities receive NOK 100,000 for participating in the programme, in addition to being paid weekly on the farm.

This means that the longer you are on the farm, the more the money pot increases.

Sæter believed that TV 2 has good salary agreements compared to other channels, but this year’s “Celebrity Farm” participants have mixed feelings about the sum of money.

Dissatisfied with the salary

Former “Ex on the Beach” participant Cristian Brennhovd (24) has taken much of the focus on the farm this season, and his behavior has caused reactions among the TV viewers and the other participants.

He himself is one of those who is dissatisfied with the salary, and believes that he should have received a much higher sum of money for being on the TV screen:

– Today I think I should have received twice as much for participating. I can’t say how much I got, says Brennhovd to Nettavisen.

Brennhovd became a familiar face to many after taking part in several TV programmes, including “71 degrees north – celebrity” and “Ex on the beach”.

He sees that as an experience he can put on the list:

– We are not allowed to say how much we got, but I should have got more because I have been on so many TV programmes. The next time I’m participating, I’ll have a lot of money, he concludes.

– Fastens the jævler

Participant Sander Austad Dale (25), on the other hand, believes that all the participants were paid more than enough, and that no one can complain about the sum.

– I think we are a privileged bunch, regardless of how hard you have to work and how little food you get. We will not complain for a second, he says to Nettavisen.

Austvold Dale makes no secret of the fact that there are completely different living conditions in the original “Farmen”, where the stay can last up to 12 weeks if you make it to the final week.

– Just look at the original version of the TV programme. They don’t get a penny for participating, all credit to them. We are some stuffy bastards.

Nevertheless, he could not participate without being paid, and says that he is completely dependent on delivering in all channels:

– I don’t think I could have been there without payment, but I could have been there longer without additional fees. It was so nice to be there, but I have something to maintain. My job is to keep things moving and everything stopped when I was in there.

Previous participants reacted

Several of the autumn’s “Farmen” participants believed that it was provocative that celebrities can take in over NOK 200,000 over a stay of six weeks at most, while the prize for being part of the regular version was cut.

– I get pissed off when I read what the celebrities earn to participate. Quite provoked, said “Farmen” participant Yassin El Barkani (31) to Nettavisen.

TV 2’s press officer, Jan-Petter Dahl, gives a somewhat cryptic answer to Nettavisen’s question about why the participants in “The Farm Celebrity” get paid, while the participants in “The Farm” go home empty-handed from the recording.

– As a matter of principle, we do not comment on the content of contracts with participants in our programmes, he says.

TV 2 also does not want to say anything about the salary of this year’s participants, but has previously stated to Nettavisen that they hope the participants agree to the program for reasons other than the money.

– We hope above all that the motivation for participation will be the experience itself and all that it brings. It is completely voluntary to be a participant in Farmen, he told Nettavisen during the autumn “Farmen” season.
