5 lakhs required
Kollam: The brutality of poverty put a red card on Amal Russell’s dream of coaching football at Spanish club Valencia. Amal Rasal (21), a resident of Iravipuram Panamudu Nagar, whose family is a fisherman and who has been playing football since childhood, is facing financial difficulties despite having the opportunity to train abroad.
The total cost of the one-month long training is Rs.5 lakh. Participation is possible only if payment is made before 28th of this month. But Amal is worried about how to find such amount. The selection for Spain was held in Kochi on November 11. Brother Joyson said about the selection. Joyson also paid Rs 2000 to participate. Out of 141 participants from various parts of Kerala, only 25 were selected. The organizers were an organization called Football Plus in Chennai. Spain’s soccer academy EF Mislata UF and Valencia Club will provide the training. Training will start in April or May.
‘Tracked’ and poverty
The opportunity was given last year, but the financial crisis prevented it. Due to the situation at home, he stopped his studies in the university and started working in welding. Amal was still booting for a club called Magical Boot in Mayyanad. After work, he practiced hitting the ball on the beach sand. After hard work, the financial situation did not change even when another opportunity came in front of Amal. Amal’s family consists of fisherman father Russell, mother Mini and brother Sanal. Phone: 7025446921.
I got the chance to go to Spain again after crossing many hurdles. There is concern that the opportunity will be lost without being able to pay the money.
