The Collège Français de Longueuil announced the appointment of Patrick Bergeron as head coach of the team, accompanied by the arrival of Dany Brunet as assistant coach.
Mr. Bergeron will take over the responsibilities left vacant, previously temporarily carried out by Pierre Petroni since the departure of Éric Houde with the Montreal team in the new professional women’s hockey league. During this time, Pierre Petroni will continue to fulfill his role as president and general manager of the Longueuil franchise.
Having joined the Collège Français de Longueuil last June as an assistant coach, Patrick Bergeron brings extensive experience in the Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League since 2010. He has successfully coached the Granby Inouk, the Montreal Rangers- East and the Terrebonne Cobras, contributing to the 2023 Napa Cup victory as an assistant coach.
Aside from his hockey commitments, Mr. Bergeron has also held the position of sports director at the Collège Français de Longueuil since 2022, demonstrating his versatility and leadership.
Appointment of Dany Brunet
The Collège Français also unveils the addition of a key member to the coaching staff with the arrival of Dany Brunet. He will join the club’s assistant coaches, working with Santino Pellegrino, Louis-Philippe Blanchet and Alexandre Montpetit.
Brunet, with a wealth of experience in hockey, has an impressive career. Having worked as a coach at the Midget AAA level for several years, he also led the Montreal Stars (now the Montreal Canadiennes), winning the title of coach of the year in the league in 2014-2015, as well as as the Clarkson Cup in 2015-2016.
Familiar with the Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League, Brunet previously served as head coach of the Vaudreuil-Dorion Mustangs, and more recently, the Valleyfield Braves.
