Drivers in Ukraine Facing Fines for Faulty Side Lights: What You Need to Know

But, unfortunately, some drivers are guided by the rule “Maybe it will blow through” and continue to drive with violations, writes “Avtosota”.

We previously told you that drivers are fined for having gasoline in their car.

Experts warned that for headlights, or more precisely for faulty side lights, motorists could receive a fine in the form of confiscation of their driver’s license for a period of 3 to 6 months.

Identifying such violators is not particularly difficult, especially in the dark. According to Part 1 of Art. 121 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses (KUoAP), drivers who drive a vehicle with faulty side lights may be fined 340 hryvnia.

If the violation is committed again within a year, then the license will have to be given back.

Therefore, before going on the road, every driver must make sure that his vehicle is in proper working condition. But keeping track of all the lights while driving can be extremely difficult. Therefore, if a light bulb burns out during a trip, this is not considered an administrative offense.

However, drivers are required to take immediate action to correct this problem.
It should be noted that if a situation arises when the side lights stop working while driving, and the driver does not know about it, this is not considered an administrative offense, but rather an opportunity to quickly solve the problem.

A fine imposed by law enforcement agencies will be considered illegal and subject to cancellation in accordance with the procedure established by law.
