Vice presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan meet legendary Indonesian dangdut musicians, Rhoma Irama, at Soneta Studio, Depok City, West Java. Rhoma Irama said that he intended to compose a song for the AMIN couple.
“Wow, it’s been around for a long time. God willing, there will be a momentum, perhaps a follow up from this meeting,” said Rhoma at the location, Saturday (20/1/2024).
Rhoma hopes that this year’s elections will not divide the nation. If the election could divide the nation, he continued, it would be better to cancel it.
“Don’t have another election like yesterday, our nation was divided, the people were divided, don’t let it happen again. If the election is only to divide the nation, there is no need to have an election,” he said.
On the same occasion, Anies expressed his pleasure at meeting Rhoma. He said that Rhoma was a Indonesian music legend.
“For us, he is a legend. He is an inspiration for millions of people, conveying messages of struggle, social, humanitarian, through dangdut music which has brought dangdut music worldwide,” he said.
According to Anies, Rhoma is not only an Indonesian dangdut musician, but has gone global. He also praised the poetry created by Rhoma, because it had a good message.
“We saw earlier that there was writing in ‘a superstar with a message’. Not just a superstar, but a superstar who carries a message. Pay attention, all the poems are full of meaning, full of messages. Not just beautiful poetry, but meaningful poetry ,” he said.
