Nikos Katsakioris has announced his resignation from the post of governor of the University Hospital of Ioannina, which has been known for days after he was appointed to the position of the deputy governor of Western Greece, in a letter to the press, in which he expresses his thanks to those who collaborated these years and a brief account of the tenure that coincided, as he typically mentions, with the difficult years of the pandemic is also attempted.
The farewell message of Mr. Katsakioris is as follows:
My recent election as a Regional Councilor and the Honorary Choice of the Regional Governor of Western Greece, Mr. Nektarios Farmakis, to assign me the duties of Deputy Regional Governor for Economic Policy and Financial Control, led me with deep emotion and after much thought, to take the difficult decision and resign from the position of the Commander of the PGNI.
My tenure at PGNI coincided with unprecedented health conditions, endangering even the health of all of us who worked in the health facilities, for the sake of the public interest, without this being an exaggeration. But if I could go back in time, this is what I would do again. I would serve PGNI, at any cost.
The memories of the common games – with the staff, my Deputy Governors and the Members of the Board of PGNI – the difficulties but also the joys, are truly indelible, they do not fade, they do not fade, and they make my decision more than difficult. I sincerely thank the employees of the Hospital I served, who are undeniably the pillars of the National Health System.
At this point, I feel the need to publicly express my warm thanks to the political leadership of the Ministry of Health during my tenure, the Governor of the 6th Health Region Mr. Ioannis Karvelis, as well as the current and former governors of Hospitals of the country, for the perfect cooperation we have had all these years.
Valuable helpers in our entire effort, to take our hospital one step forward, were undoubtedly the President of the Parliament, Mr. Konstantinos Tasoulas, the Regional Governor of Epirus, Mr. Alexandros Kahrimanis, as well as the late Moses Elisaf, former Mayor of Ioannina, together with the Epirus Members of Parliament and the Rector’s Authorities of the University of Ioannina. I feel the moral obligation to thank them publicly, because whenever we asked for their assistance for the Hospital, they offered us their “resounding” help, “silently” and without drumming.
However, our work, all these years, our actions, our efforts, were presented with objectivity by the Local Mass Media, while points that needed corrective interventions were always highlighted without exaggeration and in their true dimension. I thank them very much and their presence was undoubtedly valuable.
The above references and my thanks, declare that the “cooperation” and “interoperability” of all the bodies of our society and our fellow human beings, is what makes the difference and gives “Value” to everything we do.
I want to hope that my presence at PGNI left a “positive imprint” on the development of our Hospital, but above all I want to hope that it left – more – a more “positive impact” on the minds of the staff of PGNI, who immeasurably offer their services to society as a whole but also to the citizens of the areas of our health responsibility.
Finally, I wish good strength and every success to my good friend and partner, Deputy Commander Konstantinos Dinalexis.
Friendly,
Nikos Katsakioris
