Israeli Missile Strike Kills Member of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard in Damascus

An Israeli missile strike on the Syrian capital of Damascus killed a member of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, Reuters reports.

Three others were injured.

Syrian state media said the attack targeted a building in the Mazeh district. Other local media reported explosions heard in the Syrian capital.

A security source indicated that the high-rise building was used by Iranian advisers supporting the government of President Bashar al-Assad, and was completely destroyed by “precision-aimed Israeli missiles”.

Israel has not yet commented on the attack.

Pro-Iranian Shia militias have once again been targeted

Essam Al-Amin, head of Al-Mowassat Hospital in Damascus, said that one corpse and three wounded, including a woman, were brought to the hospital.

A spokesman for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad said that members of their group were not injured in the attack, after information emerged that some of them were in the bombed building.

Israel has long struck Iran-linked targets in Syria, but they have become more deadly since fighters from the Iran-backed Palestinian Islamist group Hamas attacked Gaza on October 7.

In December, an Israeli strike killed two members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, and another on Dec. 25 killed a senior Guard adviser overseeing military coordination between Syria and Iran.
